  • Week Thirteen – March 18th

I have created my evaluation questionnaire and given them out. The overall response of the participants was positive there were only two things that they thought needed changing, the text for the band name on the front cover and the amount of graphics inside the band interview needed more.

Next week I will evaluating the overall process of creating my magazine product which will let me see how I have done and what I could improve on for next time amongst other things.

  • Week Twelve – March 11th

The two-page spread of the magazine has been created I am pleased with the overall result of it.

Next week I will create and distribute out an evaluation questionnaire to people who fit my target audience as their opinions will be valid on what they think the overall turnout of the magazine is.

  • Week Eleven – March 4th

The contents page of the magazine has been created I am pleased with the overall result of it.

Next week I will design and create the two-page spread of the magazine which is the final part of producing my magazine.

  • Week Ten – February 26th

The front cover of the magazine has been created I am pleased with the overall result of it.

Next week I will design and create the contents page of the magazine which is the second part of making my product.

  • Week Nine – February 19th

I interviewed the band and have taken the photos I now have all the photos and content ready for creating my two-page spread article.

Next week I will design and create the front cover of my magazine so I am getting through creating my product.

  • Week Eight – February 12th

I have created a basic wire frame of the front cover this shows where everything will be laid out such as the masthead etc this gives me a starting point to build on for my front cover. I have also created a list of questions so I am ready when I meet the band next week.

Next week I will be interviewing the band and also be doing the photos for the front cover and also for the main article.

  • Week Seven – February 5th

I have created a style guide for my magazine which I will keep to throughout my magazine this way the style is consistent throughout. Also has given me inspiration for things to do on the front cover.

Next week I will create a basic wireframe of the front cover so I can see how things will be laid out and I will also create the interview questions for the band so I am prepared for when I meet them.

  • Week Six – January 29th

I created my questionnaire and gave it out. I got the results back I have found out a lot from them the results are below:

70% Interested in reviews/interviews when looking first at the cover
45% were interested in Classic Rock/ Southern Rock/ Classic Metal
80% wanted to here about the band (history/future/influences) in band interviews more than anything else.
55% preferred a mix of dark and grungy with a clean and colourful look
65% though the Interviews/Reviews sections were the most important
70% said that £3-4 was the best price
60% said that the magazine should be released fortnightly
    70% were 18 or older
    70% were male

Knowing this has helped me in how I will design my magazine and what my two page spread will be; I will be doing a band interview.

Next week I will come up with the basic design elements for my magazine such things as colour, fonts and effects that I might use in my magazine so I have a good start.

  • Week Five – January 22nd

I created a set of questions in which answered I have defined my target audience. Know my target audience lets me know who I am selling too and what I am meant to sell e.g. the design and the content.

Next week I will create and distribute a questionnaire to a selection of people who fit my target audience in order to find their feelings and opinions on music magazines.

  • Week Four – January 15tb

I have looked at the ABC and found the monthly sales of the magazines I have been looking at, as I presumed magazines such as Q and Kerrang have a higher amount of sales compared to Terrorizer mainly due to the fact they offer either a broad range of genre coverage or deal with mainstream artists. Even though having a wider audience sells more I have decided to go for a more specific area of music coverage primarily the heavier end of Metal/Rock.

Looking at the Press Complaints Commission I have learned about the rules of what you can and can’t do with print publications in amongst other places; such things are covered such as the accuracy of the information and not being aloud to take pictures of children under the age of 18 without parental consent. I now know what I can do with my magazine now that I have a guideline to follow.

Next week I will be aiming to find out my target audience in order to help on starting the design and focus of my magazine.
